Why it's fair
The middle of the map isn't the middle of the journey.
Train lines, rivers, rush hour and bikes all bend the map. Halfway measures what matters — minutes — and picks places where the longest trip is as short as possible.

Questions
How do you decide what's fair?
For every candidate place we look up the real travel time for each person using the way they said they'd travel. We then rank places by the longest of those trips — so the person with the worst journey gets the best deal. Ties are broken by average trip time, the gap between people, ratings and the group's cravings.
Isn't that just the midpoint?
No. A midpoint on the map ignores that one person might be walking while another is on a fast train line. We search around the point that balances everyone's travel speed, then check real routes to dozens of places.
Who can see where I'm coming from?
Only you see your exact starting point. Everyone else sees your neighbourhood and a location blurred to roughly a kilometre, which is enough to understand the map without revealing your address.
Do people need to install anything or sign up?
No. Halfway works in any modern browser. The organiser shares a link; everyone else just opens it and adds themselves.
What happens to my data?
Meetups and everything in them are deleted automatically 90 days after the meetup date. Organisers can delete a meetup at any time, and anyone can remove themselves.
Where does it work?
Anywhere with good map coverage — cities, suburbs, and everything in between. Travel times and places come from Google Maps.
